Good poster -

  • It has good symmetry of the background, and it is followed through to the figure.
  • It has a very clear figure and ground.
  • It has simple colors and san serif font. Use of "American" colors.

Bad Poster -

  • There is no similarity and continuity.
  • The pictures are of different styles
  • The pictures have no direction to follow
  • There is no proximity seen in the figure or background.
  • There is not much closure as despite the heart the graphics are cut off by the border.
  • The placement of the grapics are very cluttered and do not follow any principles.
  • The font type, size and colors used are very different.

–Submissions should be in the form of colour print out.
Objectives
–Developing necessary skill in using colour palette
–Developing necessary techniques in communicating the message through colours
–Understanding process of colour scheme selection and usage
The picture itself is rather lonely, as my concept of christmas is "white christmas", unlike the normal "red" and joyous concept.
The three colors used are blue, white and black.
This is the different colors tried. I obviously ran out of colors to try at the end and started playing around with the hue and staturation. I yielded some cool results.
Unlike my rough, the colors that i use seem to be unable to convey a joyous feeling.
Green which represents illness's looks errie on the card.
Red which is supposed to convey warmth in this case still looks rather sad. Perhaps the density and hue of the red was not bright enough.
Purple and black/white seems to convey melanchony. Perhaps it is due to the picture or as before due to the hues I chose.

This is the rough for my christmas card. I tried adding some colors just to observe the effects.
